It's been a few weeks since I noticed a new "protection" technique from IPTV providers.
When an account is compromised, they no longer deactivate it, they just modify the channel links to get a 403 or 404 error, the less smart ones also deactivate the obtaining of the playlist, but here, it is directly noticeable.
It's like a honeypot.
Pro IPCover, in particular, does this:
- Leave the account active in order to waste time and credibility for leakers
- Force users to waste as much time as possible to verify the validity of an account to force them to take a paid account.
Few users have a script to automate the verification.
The case of Pro Ipcover is very interesting because this provider drives people completely crazy by adding 2 other similar techniques:
- Produce a 403/404 error on random channels or on all channels at random times.
If you watch a channel, nothing abnormal happens but if you change channels, you will have an error, and if you return to the previous channel, it will no longer work... all this for a random time as well.
Which will have the effect of deleting the account on the user's player, the latter will think that the account is faulty.
- as before, they will produce a 403/404 error but directly on the entire account randomly for a random time!
All this is to be taken conditionally because I could be wrong and my conclusions may be just a coincidence.
